Prince William’s birth certificate featured above.
My interest in royal families is based on history + genealogy. The stunning (and sometimes awful) hats and clothes and jewelry and stately homes are a bonus.
So while we’re waiting for the easel to go up at Buckingham Palace announcing the birth of the Heir to the Heir to the Heir to the British Throne, here’s Prince William’s birth certificate.
Speaking genealogically, I note that the former Diana Spencer doesn’t have a first name in this record. Interesting. Let’s hope Kate Middleton doesn’t have the same experience.
Here are a few posts on Kate Middleton’s family tree, particularly her shared line with Prince William, her Durham coal-miner ancestors, and her possible descent through Henry VIII.
Yep, he signed it as the informant. I thought he used Charles P. (for Princeps) when signing things, like Elizabeth uses Elizabeth R. for Regina.
It says Charles on the bottom where it is signed. It’s possible Prince Charles did this?
Does anyone else love that the signature is just “Charles”?
And her swoopy handwriting!
I find it of interest, too, that Diana’s given name/s are not included! Also, I’d bet this is a grand bit of family history for Ms Joan V Webb!
While Charles’ name includes Prince TWICE – in addition to all the given name. Will & Kate’s document is so refreshing by comparison
Nice of them to revise the form from 30 years ago to include the mother’s actual name. The form used in the 19th c. had “Rank or Profession” instead of Occupation.
